Samantha Strange, M.A., RCC, C.C.C.

I believe everyone can grow. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, it is my goal to support and empower individuals to ease their struggles and cope with life’s challenges in healthy ways. People need a safe, supportive, and confidential relationship free from judgement to express themselves within. I build this collaboratively with each individual I am privileged to work with. Within this therapeutic container, we can explore your concerns and goals and work on strategies to step into growth, change, and meaning. I employ a trauma-informed approach and often use a blend of person-centred therapy, solution-focused therapy, strength-based therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, psychoeducation, and mindfulness practices. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to counselling, and I look forward to collaborating with you to find an appropriate path forward.

My areas of focus include:

  • Life transitions

  • Sexual health and wellness

  • Anxiety

  • Perinatal mental health (prenatal and postpartum support)

  • Relationship challenges

  • 2SLGBTQIA+ clients

  • Anger

  • Substance use (personal use, or affected by another’s use)

Throughout my life, I’ve consistently been described as empathetic, calm, and a great listener. I love to understand and connect with what makes an individual unique. I’m also endlessly curious and love learning, building skills, and nerding out. Nature is my happy place; outside the office, you’ll catch me at my best on a trail (in hiking boots or on skis), in a lake, or in my hammock with a good book. I bring a background in various helping and education roles to counselling. When useful, my experiences teaching comprehensive sexual health education, yoga and meditation, and childbirth education inform my approach. I’m a parent and have also supported many other parents through birth and postpartum as a doula.
